This place is awesome! I ordered a half rack of BBQ ribs. It came with a salad, mashed potatoes, and corn on the cob. Everything was excellent! The ribs were so tender and the BBQ sauce was very good! Probably THE BEST ribs I've ever had! The $4.99 price of the kids meal, for my daughter, was nice. It even included a drink and ice cream! The castle like decor was pretty cool, the staff were friendly. If I'm ever in this area again, I'll definitely be eating here especially for the BBQ ribs!

This review is for the Village Squire in South Elgin. They have great food and nice servers. Two of my favorite waitresses are Mickey and Denise. They are both incredible ladies with great, friendly personalities and always go "above and beyond" when waiting on you. The rib special on Thursdays is really great. You get a full slab of barbecue ribs, choice of potato, whole ear of fresh corn on the cob, soup or salad for $14.99. Ribs are consistently tender and flavorful. They also have stuffed mushroom caps on special on Thursdays and they are great. They have different specials every day and are really good. Great burgers, too. The Village Squire in Crystal Lake is no comparison to the one in South Elgin. We went there for the Thursday rib special and when were received our dinner there was no corn on the cob. When the bill came it was $18.99 each instead of $14.99 each. Quite a surprise to pay $8.00 more for 2 dinners with no corn on the cob, big special! We figured since it was family owned restaurant the prices would be the same. Totally different atmosphere than the great location in South Elgin. I would not recommend the Village Squire in Crystal Lake, as I will not be going back there but the one in South Elgin is top notch, the best!

I love this place! Good food, good prices (depending on the day), and great service. Our favorite waitress is Mickie. She's a sweetheart and very good at her job. The stuffed mushrooms were great, both the cream cheese garlic and the crab. I had the veggie burger which was also very good and the cream of chicken and rice noodle soup. Also, very good. Their desserts are to die for as well. I recommend the turtle ice cream cake slice. Very good!! Thank you to Village Squire for serving a great lunch.

came in the other wednesday with my girlfriend, i ordered the 1/2 price saganaki and gyro and she ordered chicken garlic pasta and a lemonade, we also ordered other appetizers (that were NOT on special) our server, who was a hispanic guy in the booth section of the bar area, was incredibly rude to me and rolled his eyes.when i ordered what was on special. he said i HAD to order a drink to get the 1/2 price food. i dont drink soda or juice, strictly water. even though my girlfriend ordered a lemonade, a full price entree, and we ordered full price appetizer, he still insisted i buy a beverage. he also sat at the bar all night watching football. me and my girlfriend were ready to order for about 6-7 minutes just sitting there while he watched football with his back turned to us, we wont be back. which is too bad cus we really enjoy the food

My family and I have eaten here so many times, I am shocked that I haven't written a review yet for them. Truth be told, I have been going to "The Squire" for over 20 years now, spending my earlier years at their place up in Crystal Lake. Why do I keep going back? Consistency and good service. Pros: -Very good menu selection. They can pretty much meet the needs for anyone in your group. You just want soup and salad, they got it. Just a sandwich? Plenty of those too! Oh, excuse me your Majesty, you want the full course meal??? Plenty of dinner items and specials each and every night. My wife and I have found their steak to be pretty darn good. Personally, what is amazing me more and more each time I go, is their burgers. My personal favorite is the squire burger. Caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms with American cheese subbed in. God bless it's good! Don't like steak fries for a side? No problem, they have about 10 other options to choose from. They pretty much will do whatever it takes to make your meal as good as it can be for you. -Good drink menu. I say drink menu and not beer menu, because their is no real beer menu. There is a small section in the drink menu that lists a couple of beers, but they have so many others in stock to choose from and no one really knows about it. PLEASE, take a minute and put a beer menu together and I promise, you will sell more of it! -Good deals. Their nightly specials are all very reasonably priced, and the quality of the food it very good to go with it. They also have daily "appetizer specials" so you can munch on the cheap if you want. Feel free to take a look at their website menu and specials: thevillagesquire.com/sou… -Free popcorn, which is a HUGE hit with the kids, therefore a huge hit with the parents! -Very good service. As I said earlier, I have been coming to The Squire for 20+ years now. It started back when I was a teenager and I would go with friends for half priced pizza on Sunday nights (South Elgin's half priced pizza is Monday nights though). I simply can't remember a time when the service was bad here. Most of the time, they are doing whatever they can to make your stay enjoyable. Keep it up! Cons: -It is a medieval theme restaurant, and it is dark on the inside. -When it gets busy, it gets loud. Like, I can't hear my wife talk to me from across the table loud. That can be annoying, but there is nothing really that can be done about it. Its busy, cause its good, and people know it, which is why they come. All in all, definitely recommend this place to people who are looking for a good meal in a laid back atmosphere. I will be back soon!

Nice family restaurant. Food is always good, nothing spectacular. Last time we were in our server was a little slow but overall a nice atmosphere. It's close to home so we will go back.

Do yourself a favor and just order a burger. They do a good job on those. Everything else is a 50/50 chance taste wise. They must be getting use 2 the Food complaints because they don't even offer 2 get u something edible. But I do have 2 say. i had a bowl of Manhattan Clam Chowder that was the best I ever had

We go here every once In a while. Food is good all around. Not sure why they put popcorn on the table. It seems sort of odd. Id rather bread or chips or some thing. Service was reasonable as are the prices. A good old cheeseburger was pretty good. This place always seems to have a decent crowd but we never have a wait. I'd recommend it just based on the consistency of the food quality and service.

I'm on the fence about the place. We've been here twice. Service has always been pretty good. The food is decent, although on my scale decent is not something I go out and pay for. I can make decent at home. First time we went we went for a Prime Rib special. They were out of it. Ended up getting a burger, which was Ok. Second time they did have the Prime Rib, which was OK. Wildfire is a better bet, but I don't think this place positions itself to compete against that genre, so it wouldn't be fair to pan them against that sort of standard. For a decent cut at a decent price that's close to home for me I might do it again. I'd probably do it again, now that I'm actually thinking about it. This is mostly a family place and I can see why people with kids love it, as the decor is all medieval, with armor and swords and other tools of war hanging about as if King Richard was having some chow time with The Knights of the Round before heading off and killing some folks and stealing all their women. Anyhow, yes, it is a family place. Both times we were there it was loaded with children. That's fine if you have a few of your own screamers running around adding to the mayhem. If you're trying to have a quiet dinner or a date this may not be the best bet for you, unless you are trying to convince your significant other why it is extremely unwise to have children. So, for me I think it's just not my scene. For families this place is probably a little more attractive, although I'll probably end up there again at some point due to the close proximity for us.

Tried this place for the first time with my boyfriend last night, and I wasn't all that impressed. They gave us popcorn to snack on while we wait for our food, which was good popcorn but a little odd at the same time. They put drinks into mason jars which was kind of cool and unique. They also gave us warm bread as well. For an appetizer I got giant onion rings which were tasty. I was disappointed with my meal. I ordered chicken parmesan with spaghetti. The chicken was fried which doesn't taste right with chicken and it was over cooked. The spaghetti was kind of bland. Very mediocre food but the prices weren't that bad. Me and my boyfriend finished off with an icecream sundae which was delicious! Can't go wrong with icecream. The environment of the restaurant was a little depressing because it was dark and dreary.

We went there last minute on a friday PRIME TIME. We had our 18mo old with us who is NOT patient by his very nature and they got us in right away! Prince was our waiter and did a GREAT JOB! We never were irked by waiting for food or drinks...They kept the popcorn flowing (thank god as the kiddo was inhaling it!!!). The food was VERY GOOD. I mean it is not a 5 star fancy pants overpriced go only one a year type place so you need to have your expectations in check but it was FAST, SUPER GOOD and we all left very happy! I recommend their new sangria...YUM!

It's a place to eat. Not bad, not great. They put cheap bar popcorn on the table, and you eat it out of habit, prolly spoiling your appetite. Which doesn't matter, 'cos no culinary ground is getting broken here. It doesn't suck, but I ain't rushing back there anytime soon.

  • Nichole W.

The atmosphere is really cozy inside. I love the sandwiches here. They have a hidden to go fee for ordering food to go. Although we used to order here frequently in the past, this has caused us to stop ordering even though they are very close.

Great place to get a good meal, love the late dinning hours that are available. The entertainment in the bar on the weekends is always a bonus. Saganaki is a must do! Really have never had a bad meal here, service is always been good too. Does get crowded during peak weekend times, so you can expect to wait a bit on Friday and Saturday nights. The Mai-Tai's are awesome, I always get one of those, you will not be disappointed. Big menu, average prices, so you have a lot to choose from.

Okay so this place has its positives and negatives, as with any restaurant of course. We'll start with the negatives, which include a smaller parking lot the most restaurants that size. Had to park in the LA tan parking lot and walk over which really really isn't a big deal. Other negatives include limited selections if you are gluten free such as me. Everything on the menu appeared to have gluten except salads and steaks/chops. Also it's dark inside which kinda puts you in a depressed mood. For the positives the service was very excellent and quick. Our server was attentive and friendly, don't remember her name but she had pink hair. When you first get there they offer you fresh popcorn and bread to snack on while you wait for your meal. Have never had fresh popcorn offered at a restaurant before so that was unique. The meal was good enough to where no complaint is warranted, but the price was a little steep. Finally one thing as silly as it seemed that impressed me were the restrooms. The bathroom stalls were very clean with no signs of urine or fecal matter anywhere. If you have clean bathrooms then you usually have a clean restaurant. Might be back, depends on the girlfriend.

First time here and last..... Potato skins were burnt, not good. French onion soup was bland not much there for taste. Service is ok not really a friendly place...they just serve your food can't tell if they like their job or not personality. Appetizers were brought out fast as well as the meal. Reuben sandwich is good...no complaints. The bathrooms look pretty but the toilets are gross. Crooked seats with pee on them. Had to squat! Lol Castle theme is pretty neat. Lots of medal armor all over. Classic rock type music playing at a medium volume. Loud atmosphere but not too loud. Family type restaurant nothing classy.

Food is always good and the servers are great! Great atmosphere especially in the winter when the fireplace is on. Always greeted with a bowl of popcorn. Daily specials are good-kids eat free on Thursdays, .50 cent stuffed mushrooms, 1/2 off saganaki and gyros, ribs and prime rib specials, etc. on various nights. It's come a long way since it first opened.

I really like this place! I remember driving a decent amount of time to get here as a kid, but now I live much closer. Whenever my boyfriend and I go here we always get the Mediterranean hummus as an appetizer. it's delicious! Then we each order a meal, and for the most part just get water. Our meal is always around about $30. One time we went and each got a drink (alcoholic) and it was around $45. Their salads are good, their french onion soup is delicious, and my boyfriend says the burgers are really good. It's a nice place for 2 people to go have dinner and it's quiet enough for conversation. That being said, it's good for kids too! There's definitely room for them to accommodate larger parties. I think this is a great place to check out whether it's date night, or a night out with the whole family.

The food here is pretty good, big portions. The baked onion soup was a bit too salty for me, but the turtle pie was to die for! Overall I would return. ()

There was a misunderstanding by Village about our group of 15+. But they made up for it beyond our expectations. I have to say we were able to take over bar while we waited which made it pleasant dare I say better. As we chatted & drank up a storm. When our table was ready The Squire immediately had apps prepared and delivered to the table. No skimping mind you enough for all to cut the hunger edge. Our waitress handled us like A Boss! Separate checks, proper orders. Simply, graciously accommodating. Thank you to Karen and the entire Management Team!! BTW my group is hard to please! WHEW!

Meh. It's a place to eat. In the land of suburbia and strip malls there isnt a whole bunch to choose from. This is a great place to go when everyone is in the mood for something different. I had a burger which was pretty good. And my pretty good burger came with pretty good fries. Fries are so important, right?

Nothing fancy, just a nice casual place to meet friends. Friendly staff. We keep going back because it is in a convenient location for our group. Most recently I had the chicken parm which was a large portion.

  • Ashley P.

My husband and I love this place. We've always had great service, the food is wonderful (we've tried a wide variety on the menu) and it's great for a date night or a night with the kids! This is our "go-to" place if we can't agree on anywhere else to go. It never fails to deliver! :)

  • Audrey P.

We usually go to the location in Dundee but were meeting friends and this one was closer. There burgers are good but we decided to try something different. We were not impressed with the staff or the food. Everything was just ok. Two people ordered the filet with bell peppers (special of the day) and neither one hardly touched it. I wished they would've asked for something else. They both said it tasted like a t.v. dinner. I got the club sandwhich which was alright I guess.

If I was to judge a place by atmosphere alone, then The Village Squire would easily get a 4. It's clean, spacious and comforting. The menu selection would probably also deserve a 4 star rating as well... maybe even 5 stars. But, that is where the nicety ends. I was actually very excited about coming here for I passed this place several times and on the outside it always looked good... but always thought it was a steak house. The menu is a full range of American eats, some steaks, lots of appetizers, burgers, wraps, sandwiches etc. The service was mediocre which was somewhat disappointing being that when we went it was not that busy. As for the food, it was bland and disappointing. It will be some time before I go back here, especially with all the other options in this part of town.

    (2)
  • Karen L.

The place is very quiet and laid back. In the winter, they have a beautiful fireplace in one of their dining rooms. I love the cozy atmosphere. I come to Village Squire only for their prime rib and stuffed mushrooms appetizer. Other than that, I'm not too crazy about the food on their menu. I'd give the service 4 stars.

    (3)
  • Lindsay B.

I would give the Village Squire between 2-3 stars depending on the day. My friend is a server here, and she is wonderful, but the rest of the staff can be hit or miss. Things about the squire that I like: open late and serve food late, delicious mai thais, great baked french onion soup, decent burgers, and lots of space. Things I dislike: dark, inattentive staff, other food options. I would describe this restaurant overall as decent and nothing more.

    (3)
  • Buster M.

Food was good. Server was attentive. Saganaki was tasteless. Chicken sandwich was very good.

    (3)
  • Tony M.

I am a fan. The best way for me to describe this place is consistent. The menu is large and filled with many different options. The staff is always nice and quick paced. I never turn this place down when suggested bc of the Saganaki! Its good and always hits the spot. I like this place bc they do not pretend to be something else.. you get what they advertise. The food is good, service is good, beer is cold and the prices are fair. I suggest the Prime Rib sandwich, stuffed mushrooms, and my favorite is the Greek Salmon. Also, they have live music sometimes.. not sure on the schedule but it always sounds good!

  • Tanya M.

Never again will I set foot in this Village Squire. I did eat on more than one occasion at the Village Squire in Dundee, and so I assumed that this place would be on the same level as far as service, and quality. Wow was I wrong. A friend and I went here for a late night meal and cocktail one night and we were beyond disappointed. Granted, the atmosphere is inviting, and the fireplace is nice...but in my book that does not by any means make up for the service (or lack of service), and the quality of the meal. Not only were we practically the only two people in there that night, and it was after 10 PM, but we were pretty easy orders. After we had to wait an extended period of time to be served, our meals came luke-warm and not appetizing what so ever. The waitress did not once come to check on us, or see how the meal was. We were forced to ask a bus boy to bring us items that we had been waiting for, and they were still never delivered. Nor was the meal accomodated. Perhaps we came on an off night, but there should be no reason at all on any night for service this poor, or food that is lacking as much as this meal was. The only reason I can accept giving this location 1 star, is the popcorn.

  • Jamie H.

Came here on Saturday night at around 6:15. Everyone in front of us was seat immediately, then the hostess told use 20-25 mins (Party of 4). I knew that was much longer than we'd really have to wait, but it was a bit off putting. 5 minutes later they had a table for us. The waiter took forever to come over to get our drinks. Then once we got them he took our order and as we were taking our order some other girl comes over and interrupted the waiter to light our saganaki...but over by the bar? I didn't even get it see it! Don't know she couldn't have wait 20 seconds until our server was done taking our order, but OK. The saganaki was great. I drank my water very fast, as I was parched and the server came by took my brother's pop glass and I asked for more water. He then disappeared for a while, and I had to ask again for my water and brother's pop. I got the garlic appetizer, brother got the blue cheese burger, mom got the gyro and my dad got the Ruben. Everything tasted pretty good, but service just wasn't that great. I know I'll come back again sometime, because hey it's the burbs!

    (3)
  • Nick M.

I know! Nick in the burbs?! Well believe it or not I have friends and family in the burbs. Plus I grew up half in the city, half in the burbs. Back in the day, almost every time I got a chance to see a close friend of mine we would usually at some point in the night end up here. I know it's cheesy and the whole outside looking like a castle doesn't help but there are good reasons. One, it's a 5 min drive from his place. Two, it's CHEAP (Free popcorn). Three, the staff is extremely friendly. The food isn't exactly healthy but it's good (Chicken fingers, wings, gyros, onion rings). Though, I'm not big on the smell of flaming cheese but they sure do love it here. The bar crowd is pretty friendly and a mix of all ages. They also have live music every once in awhile. Maybe one of these days we'll sit in the actual restaurant, since I already know how cool the bar area is.

  • Jenni W.

I am very confused about this restaurant. The name and decor is totally English, but they serve mediterranean dishes (Saganaki seems to be the favorite?). I would be fine with this, if the food was any good. The restaurant itself is pretty nice inside, and the outdoor patio is great. However, the food was pretty terrible. I ordered the Grecian Chicken with French Onion soup, and my husband had the prime rib with cream of chicken noodle soup. The soups were SOOO salty, so we hardly ate any of it. I was surprised the server didn't ask us if anything was wrong with it when he came to get bowls because it was still full! The chicken didn't have anything "Grecian" about it (I used to work near the west loop and often dined in Greek town). I was not at all expecting it to be as good as Greektown, but does throwing some feta cheese on a plain grilled chicken make it Grecian? And of course, the prime rib was VERY salty. Also, we ordered a couple of Redd's as there was a sign on the front door saying they were serving it now. He actually mentioned the sign on the front door when he ordered it. Well, I guess we still needed to say the full name "Redd's Apple Ale", because our server brought us a couple of red sangrias. I'm not sure why he brought sangrias....I guess it might be a bit more understandable if he brought us a couple of the house Red wines maybe (still a stretch though since he mentioned the sign on the front door)? Overall, each part of our meal was a fail. I would only go back for drinks on the patio, and say the full name of any drink you order!

Village Squire, you've won me over! At least as a luncher. *pluses* ~free Wi Fi ~cute mason jar glasses ~free popcorn from an old fashioned popcorn carnival popper ~extensive menu (awesome & huge salads, a world of appetizers to choose from!) ~true to name atomosphere...could really see the knight at the front come to life, walk up to the bar & order a pint! ~quiche for lunch=) *minuses* ~it's in Elgin ~service can at times be slow So it all adds up to maybe not passing up Village Squire for the Long Johns Silver next door....but I love those hush puppies!

  • Steve G.

Great family restaurant with an even better separate bar area. Food is very good -- especially the Greek Salads and the ribs. Gyros are also good. Bar can get busy, but the crowd is friendly. Live music every night after 730pm, mostly acoustic classic rock... Bar is done up like an old castle or something - very British, very odd for a place that is Greek-owned... Nice change of pace from all of the chain restaurants all up and down Randall Rd.

    (4)
  • Renee S.

Consistently good food and service. I love that you get (movie-theater type) popcorn when you sit down. I may be a hillbilly because I like the novelty of drinking out of a mason jar. I prefer that over a scratched up plastic glass that has been washed 1,000 times at other restaurants. I've tried many things on their menu. Its all good. This location is our favorite. They have the BEST creamy garlic dressing (that they make) at this location. If you eat the dressing, You're going to be breathing garlic fire for 3 days and not getting any lovin' from anyone. I'm just sayin'.... Consider yourself warned! I think its worth the abstinence from time to time. :o)

It was a nice relaxing atmosphere. We had a really friendly server who was very quick to refill my pop about 6 timesm for some reason i was expectionally thirsty that morning. I love that they give you popcorn to munch on. The spinach, artichoke, and tomato dip was amazing. I am kind of a spinach dip freak and try them everywhere, and this was one of the best. The alfredo was rather cheesy and creamy which is good, very filling. I also tried the athenian stuffed chicken which was as well very tasty (i love cheese). I really wish i had tried the flaming cheese because it looked and smelled so good and what is cooler than having food in flames. The alfredo liked i said, was good but I have had better. The only other fault was that they never brought me my salad.

  • Honey B.

It's alright. First time I went the food was great, 2nd time I got a hamburger, and it wasn't a fresh patty more like one of those premade patties, no onions. The steak fries were good. Our waiter was awesome! We sat by the back door under the air conditioning and it was freezing. Oh yea, and did they REALLY have Saganaki in Medieval times? That was a bit odd. Tally ho!

Warm friendly place with a nice menu. I love their fireplace. The food is just okay, but I love their saganaki.

I really did not care for this establishment. I ordered food for take out before actually going to the restaurant and thought it was decent but nothing special. When I went to the restaurant it was not very good. I ordered some type of turkey sandwich and was underwhelmed. The place didn't seem very well run and the service wasn't good. They're open late, but it seems like the server was pissed that we came in. I work in the bar/restaurant industry so I know how it feels to want to be cut but I definitely think it's inappropriate to convey that to your patrons.

Good place, food is good. They have take out, too, which is really nice. Their raspberry vinaigrette salad dressing is FANTASTIC!!

As soon as you sit down, you'll get at least three things: a bowl of popcorn, a friendly greeting and the smell of flaming cheese along with one big "OPA!". The Village Square has the best gyros, great French Onion soup, a lovely steamed veggie plate, a killer Zombie and a lively atmosphere. I love the Squire - I try to get back there whenever I'm near it. The service is always friendly, the prices very reasonable and there's never a push to get out when you're done. The hearth area is great in the winter, and the patio is great in the summer. Go get yourself some saganaki and some gyros. Opa!

  • Kate S.

Good value, and they're open late! They have a great drink menu, the popcorn on the tables is fantastic, and a pretty extensive menu. We came here a lot after rehearsals and shows, because they're very accommodating for large groups and have a little bit of everything so everyone can find something they like.

If you like a typical Greek owned, Greek style restaurant, which is like 99% of other family style restaurants out there, than you'll love this place. If you like more gourmet food, and a great hip atmosphere, forget this place. My Greek salad was paltry and it was not worth $9 (two anchovies only?? - come on?). The pita bread on it was dried out and not even warm.. The kids meals didn't come with drinks, nor desert and were around $5 each. My daughter got the smallest kids meal of her life for that price. For $4 more, I could have bought her a huge adult sandwich with all the trimmings. They also sat us in a nook that reminded us of a dungeon. It was pretty claustraphobic. Awul dank dark atmosphere. I don't get the Greek food and boring American fare in an English style building? Does this place know what it wants to be? The server was accomodating at least.

I was thrilled when they opened a Squires in South Elgin. It is that great little place to go for a hamburger or a fish fry on Friday. I don't think we've been back to the other Squires since this one opened. The popcorn when you get seated is always a favorite. WEe have not found anything bad on the menu. The specials they have been having during the week this past Feb. and March have been wonderful. We'll keep coming back !

Foul. Food was disturbingly foul. Was the worst meal paid for in a very, very long time. As if they pulled some Joe Dirt off the street to do the cooking. The West Dundee branch is leaps and bounds better. I feel remorse for spending my hard earned money last night for food that was not fit for even my dog. No other word will describe, 2 bites and we stopped eating. Foul, foul, foul!!! Wish I could select no stars for rating.

I ordered the full slab of ribs about a dozen times and have not had a bad rack yet. It s hard to find a good rib place in the western burbs every time the meat falls off the bone!!! I am leaving 4 stars for the ribs and bar area service. Live music is a nice touch. Keep up the good work village..

Big on menu variety, small on taste. I was extremely underwhelmed by the food here. Bland, thin ribeye steak, overseasoned mashed potatoes, and french onion soup that went easy on the onion and the flavor... Oh, and one of the cook's here like's to put paprika on everything it seems. I found it sprinkled on my soup, my potatoes and my steak.

I've been going to the Village Squire at the Dundee location for YEARS. Have some fresh popped corn while deciding on what drink you'll have. They have very tasty and fun drinks like Zombies and Mai Tai's. Once you decide on a drink, order it up with some Saganaki (flaming cheese). OPA! This is probably the best part of the Squire. Then try some ribs or a burger or a pita sandwich or how about my favorite, the stuffed Athenian chicken. They can get rather busy and the service may be sluggish but I doubt you'll be disappointed.

This is a good local Greek-American restaurant. I love Greek foods so I love the Feta and Roasted Garlic appetizer plate and the Saganaki, of course! We have also gotten the Greek Marinated Filet Kabob and the Fish Fry also which were both very good. Their sandwiches were just okay. It is definitely a fun atmosphere, you are served a bowl of popcorn when you sit down and the service is always good. We have even sat in the bar after dinner for a couple of beers and they had a musician playing his guitar and singing cover songs and a few of his own. That was pretty fun. I would say if you are looking for somewhere that has a laid back atmosphere and good food, stop in here for a bite to eat.

I was there for the first time last night (a Thursday), it was my birthday dinner from my gf's parents. We had a good time, the waitress was knowledgeable, had a personality and was attentive, everything you could ask for. I had the skirt steak which she recommended, at it was pretty good. We all had Rum Barrels - the special of the night, and upon mention that it was my birthday she brought out a free Mai-Ti with a sparkler and the wait staff singing happy birthday. There is a separate bar area, but I only took a glance around. There were bar stools as well as tables available and live music from a guy and his guitar. Stop by for some good food and a good time if you have a chance.

Welcoming environment, kid friendly, food priced correctly, and service was fine, but the food itself was underwhelming. It's close, so we've tried it a few times with the same result, including in another location.

Free Popcorn All day, Err day! Try their Moscow Mule, best one I've tried so far compared to the other restaurants or bars I've been to. My husband and I love coming out here, they have live acoustic music most nights, great food, great deals and great service.

Suburbanites deserve better. Full ribs w/coleslaw and mashed potatoes ($17.99) - 2 stars. Perplexingly small amount of coleslaw. Chicago style and neptune mushrooms ($7.50 for ten) - 3 stars Calamari ($9.49) - 1 star. So bland. Shrimp alfredo ($14.99) - 0 stars. Worst alfredo I've EVER had. Watery, didn't taste of cheese or even cream, more like watered down half & half. 5 pieces of small shrimp. Onion soup ($0.75 upgrade) - 2 stars Small Greek salad ($2.75 upgrade with meal) - 2 stars Chicken walnut salad ($9.99) - 1 star. Pathetic chicken.

This place is so kitschy! WHICH I LOVE! I'm a fan of anything themed. This place has a medieval feel to it. They offer complimentary bowl(s) of popcorn. The first time they asked if we would like a bowl, the second time we didn't receive a bowl nor did we ask for one (no biggie). So I'm not quite sure if you need to request one...? But anyways... Try the Cajun Burger. So so good. This is probably the only time in my life that I didn't smother my burger in ketchup. The seasoning and pepper jack cheese added enough flavor that I didn't add any condiments. Major plus, it didn't taste the least bit dry. Decent steak fries. Fries are my secret obsession. Personally, I prefer thinner crispy fries, but I will eat just about any kind. The baked French onion soup is another must-try. Went there on a Saturday night and they had a guy playing guitar and singing. Wasn't half bad, either! Definitely a cool place to grab dinner.

They have a nice fire place and they're open late. It's got a good feel with fun medieval castle decorations. The bar is fun and the staff is good. The food is of good quality. I wish there was a 3 and a half star rating becuase they're not quite a 4 but not a solid 3 either. If you're looking for a place that's open late and has a good variety of food with cold beer on tap, this is your place.

We stopped here because it was right by Prenatal View Ultrasound. Saganaki was awesome. I really liked the reuben sliders too, but i'm on a sauerkraut kick. My dad got the Buffalo Chicken salad, but I was all up on it like white on rice. I love hot wings, but i thought a salad combination would be gross. I dug it, and i am going to order it next time. I had the Village melt, and it was good, but the buffalo chicken salad was better, so I ended up bringing the melt home. We'll be going back after the next ultrasound. The saganaki is calling my name.

The 3stars is due to their service here. It's not always the greatest. Sometimes we are left waiting to order or waiting for refills. But the food menu is awesome. The saganaki (flaming cheese) is always good here. And the pizzas are half off after 9 or 10 on weeknights in the bar. I haven't had a bad food dish here, it's basic pub/Greek food that has lots of flavor for a small chain. When we roll into the in-laws late at night, we always come here for a late meal.

Went here on a random Saturday night for a date with my boyfriend. The ambiance was very nice. A young man was playing acoustic guitar on the stage. It was pleasant and did not disrupt conversation either. Service was mostly quick, though at times our waitress came off rude and short with us. The food was very good. I had the fish and he got a steak; both were rather large portions. Overall it had a warm, inviting atmosphere with above average food. If you're looking for a relaxing and affordable night out, check out The Village Squire.
